Cezanne was forced by his father, a prosperous hatmaker, to study law. Cezanne's father later relented when Paul installed a studio at their country house in Aix. In Paris, Cezanne frequently associated with Monet, Manet, Renoir, and Pissarro. His triumph occurred in 1904 at the Salon d'Automne, where an entire room was devoted to his work.
